Woods & Blues

It has been a wonderful few weeks…also a busy few weeks.  We’ve been loaded up with blue paints, blue skies, wood projects, and some orange accents for a bit of flare.  Woods & Blues, I guess you could say.  Check out what we’ve been up to here at the Upcycled Ugly residence:

My friends, David and Alyson, had asked me to give their two 1950’s side tables and dresser a facelift.  This was my first “go” at using Annie Sloan Chalk paint (in Duck Egg Blue and Old White).  The tops of the dresser and side tables were stained in Minwax’s Dark Walnut.  I liked it so much, I painted an old trunk I had with the leftover chalk paint.   I sealed each in a Polycrylic.  Voila!

Here’s the Steamer Trunk “Before” Photo (Where’s Waldo Sizzle?):

Perhaps all of these projects came after a very inspiring trip to Seattle.  It was the most beautiful day.  I watched men make cheese at Beecher’s, then indulged in their world famous Mac and Cheese (can you say, “Carbs?!?”).  I strolled by the bay and through the Pike’s Place Market.  The flowers were breath-taking and… aren’t those pepper wreaths cool?  Again… lots of blues, woods, and pops of orange.  Apparently these are my signature colors/textures right now!

Hope you all have a fantastic rest of your week and Fall weekend!
